    The first twenty.

    So about 2 and a half months ago, the owner of my gym decided that he wanted to work with a few of us to help meet fitness and weight loss goals. We did a full nutritional evaluation, and meet up every other week as a group to check in, and see how we are all doing. We went into the biological and chemical reactions that happen when we eat, and how to optimize those processes. We talked about eating for fuel and nutrition, and not using food as simply comfort. And it’s all been driven through our group, and each other. 

    He posted our commitment to the group on the website, and continues to make updates to the whole gym about our progress. 

    At first I was terrified of the accountability. No shit every day people would come up to me at the gym and ask how I was doing. That, coupled with a more in-depth understanding of what happens when I eat that cookie (other than the fact that it’s yummy, and who cares really, it’s just a cookie), helped me immensely with my ability to turn down the cookie, and say, no thanks. There will be a million opportunities to eat cookies in the future, and I just need to say no now, and exercise moderation when I meet my goals. And I’m totally OK with that. 

    We set a goal of 60lbs total for me. I’ve lost 20.6lbs (a steady, and healthy 2/week). Round 2 starts now, and I’m very excited to be able to go into this one with results under my belt (literally). My jeans are big, my shirts are geting baggy, and that all gives me tangible motivation to keep on going. 

    I’ve tried a hundred ways to lose weight for the last 15 or so years. This is the very first time that I have found something that works, dosen’t require me to count points/obsessively track everything I eat/ be an all around crazy person. 

    I would love to, in another 10 weeks, post again about my next 20lbs.

    So Feb 10th Here I Come!

    SQUAT CLEAN REVIEW:
    -All athletes will review squat clean techniques with instructors, then those still new to the Olympic lifts will continue to work on form and technique while more advanced lifters will perform 10 working sets of 1 rep each. During the 10×1 work sets the athletes will still be under the supervision of the class instructors. This is a chance for “everyone” to work on weaknesses and flaws in their technique.
